About
Julia Dean is a photographer, educator, writer, and founder and former executive director of the Los Angeles Center of Photography for 22 years. She is currently the director of The L.A. Project, a group of street, documentary, and news photographers whose mission is to tell the real story of the streets of L.A.
In the exhibition titled L.A. Stories, you'll discover a street and documentary photography display showcasing 80 images created by 30 photographers. These impactful images collectively capture the nuances of the people and places within our cherished city of Los Angeles. Each photographer has been mentored or befriended by Julia during her extensive career as an educator and artist. The exhibition is co-curated by the award-winning director Daniel Sackheim.
Following her extensive time in LA, Julia has chosen to begin a new adventure, exploring the old world charm of Portugal. This exhibition serves as both a tribute to LA and a farewell, uniting the diverse voices she has nurtured in this beloved city before she moves to her next chapter.
We invite you to attend this remarkable exhibition, available for one weekend only at REN Gallery, and say "So Long" to Julia.

note REN Gallery is located in the inner courtyard of Santee Village. There is no direct street entrance. To enter the property you will need to walk in from the pedestrian walkway at 743 Santee St. and you will find us along your right-hand side in the inner courtyard.
