About

Opening on June 14th, 2018 in correlation with the DTLA Art Walk, Fresh Squeezed offers a new look at REN Gallery’s resident artists Clairfoster Browne, Nicholas Tredway, Louis XXX, and Laura Letchinger, featuring their fresh works made in 2018 as well as introducing our newest addition to REN Gallery’s line-up, artist Justin Lyons.   This exhibit will expand and morph throughout the summer, continually adding new works from each artist, so that each time you enter the gallery, you will always find something fresh and new.

Artist Laura Letchinger offers large scale abstract paintings with an industrial, street art vibe with her mixed media paintings.  In these new works, her stream of consciousness expresses itself in symbols that could at first look be interpreted as Sanskrit under layers of color, glass, broad brush strokes topped with a few thin splashes; each layer adding to the vibrant energy of the work.

In Nicholas Tredways newest work his bold color palette is nothing short of amazing with bizarre symbols scattered throughout the piece inviting the viewer to create their own interpretation of Tredways futuristic yet analog world.

Louis XXX has moved on to larger scale pieces as well with his 6 x 6 foot piece MADE IN USA debuting at Fresh Squeezed.  The words "Soft as milk, safe as a prayer" sing along the top half of the painting, slightly hidden under a bustling cityscape, a round window in the center of the piece, focusing the viewer to enter the world of his muse "She was the girl on the fire escape, giving haircuts to her friends".

Clairfoster Browne forages Los Angeles, finding remnants that others have discarded and repurposing these items into gorgeous sculptures and wood blocks for his paintings.  In Fresh Squeezed Browne launches his newest series of masks that represents the gods of LA.

Finally the newest REN Gallery addition in this exhibit is artist Justin Lyons, whose street art beginnings have led to edgy mixed media works with painted and collaged features and just a word or two that offer a narrative, often with a spark of humor and with just enough space to really let the viewer interpret their own story from the piece.
