"Facial Recognition "
Facial Recognition explores both abstract and figurative portraiture offering the viewer an experience of both knowing the subject and having to imagine one behind the abstraction. A powerful Freddie Mercury holding his fist in the air is featured by artist Jared Schwalb. Minas Halaj offers his Floral Minds series, portraying a group of women, faces covered in layers of flowers, fabrics, and painted in the ancient Egyptian encaustic method mixed with contemporary collage and painting techniques. Artist Rob Grad has developed a world of self portraits that crosses genders, emotions, inner thoughts and suppositions. His mixed media works are innovative and sleek in their layered plexiglass compositions. In addition to this special exhibition REN Gallery resident artists Louis XXX, David Buckingham, Nicholas Tredway and Victor Wilde will have works on display with an emphasis on the newest works by Louis XXX.
Louis XXX will be signing copies of his book "To My Sweetheart" a compilation of his four books of poetry at both the Art Walk and VIP reception.
